On this page you will find lots of information and useful links to support you and your family with a wide range of needs and issues. You will find the best places to seek support in school, as well as where you find support and advice within the local community. If you need any help to access any of the support or services, please speak to a member of the Pastoral Support Team, or Miss Dale (DSL). 

In-school support 

Our Pastoral Support Team work closely with families in a wide range of situations. They are a friendly face, a listening ear and a support network for children, parents and carers. They wear a bright pink uniform and are easy to spot. 

 

Our Community Hub is located by the Key Stage 1 building near the Clifton Street gate. Inside, you will find:

* free, pre-loved uniform in a range of sizes 

* tuck shop - a range of healthy snacks are available to purchase at the start of each day for 50p an item

* free book library for grown-ups

* posters and leaflets of support and sessions on offer in the local community 

*FRIDAY only - free milk and fruit available at the end of the school day 

This is open at the start of the day each morning. Here you will find a member of the Pastoral Support Team, should you wish to speak to someone. 

 

This year we have launched our parent referral form for Pastoral Support. A copy can be found at the end of this page, or alternatively, you can request a paper copy from the Community Hub. This referral form is designed to be used by parents who feel their child(ren) requires some pastoral, or wider agency support, linked to their well-being and mental health. Completed forms are to be returned to the School Office for the attention of Miss Dale, DSL. These will be reviewed in our regular Safeguarding meetings, with agreed actions and support being communicated to families in writing. 

 

Wider agency support 

Family Hubs

Family Hubs offer the right help, in the right place, at the right time. They provide services and support for families with children 0-19 (or 25 with SEND). They can also offer extra support to families during pregnancy and with baby’s first years. Family Hub run regular sessions where families can get advice, enjoy fun activities and socialise in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Our Family Hubs and Family Centres offer the opportunity to meet other parents, find support, and access a range of information and classes in areas such as: 

• parenting advice 

• play services, including sensory play for children 

• parent/child bonding 

• speech and language  

• infant feeding and nutrition, including breastfeeding support 

• antenatal and postnatal care  

• mental health support 

We also provided more specialist services including support for: 

• parents and carers with children with support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

• perinatal mental health 

• infant-parent relationships 

• domestic abuse  

• housing advice  

• intensive family support

Family Hub - Virtual Family Space                                                       

If you aren’t able to get to one of the Family Hub services in person, there is still support and advice you can access at home. A great resource to use is their Virtual Family Space.

Sandwell Family Life 

The Sandwell Family Life site provides a catalogue of support and advice services, as well as activities and sessions that are running within Sandwell. The categories are below:

Family Fund 

Family Fund is the UK's largest grant-making charity for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child, on a low income. 

Family Fund believes that families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people should have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as wider families.  They try to make this happen every day by:

• Giving grants to families on a low income for items they may not otherwise be able to afford. For example family breaks, digital equipment, white goods, clothing, bedding, furniture and play equipment.
• Offering services to help parents and carers to achieve the outcomes they want for their child and family. This includes where to go for support with money, benefits and budget planning, information on mental health and wellbeing. And practical workshops to help people get online and use digital tools.
• Providing ways for families to share their experiences, so they can influence lasting change on issues that matter to them.
