Year 1 Visit to Holy Trinity Church
On Thursday 23rd June 2022, Year 1 pupils visited Holy Trinity Church in Old Hill. They first met Nick who helps run the church and played a game in pairs where they had to find the different numbered sheep around the church and link them to the ones on their individual sheets. This revealed a code that said “Luke 15:17”, which is the parable from the Bible. They then listened to the story of “The Lost Sheep”, which was acted out with puppets. After that, the children asked a range of questions about the features of the Church.
“How do you call people to Pray?” Maruf
“Where do you go to ring the bell?” M. Subhan
“When was the Church built?” Taylor
“If there was no electricity when the church was built, how do we have it now?” Rose
“Does the clock work on electricity?” Caitlin
“What do you do on the pulpit?” Clark
“Where do you put the Bible to read it to people?” Amelia
Finally, the children completed a quiz wherein Nick asked the children questions in large groups of four and the children then answered them.
We would like to say a big thank you to Nick for allowing us to visit the Church and engaging the children so well. We would also like to thank the very helpful parent helpers who supported the children throughout the trip. The children really enjoyed their fun and educational morning.
