Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back, I hope you've all had a lovely, restful half-term. Unbelievably, time is going so quickly and, of course, it is my final half-term at Temple Meadow. I'm loving every minute and soaking up the many joyful things that happen each and every day. Having just delivered a STAR assembly, I already have that 'feel good' feeling as we celebrated all our STARS for this week. There are some nice things planned to celebrate my leaving and one will be a lovely pupil event (much more information to follow regarding that).

In today's STAR assembly, we took the opportunity to present Mrs Bourne with a beautiful bouquet of flowers as she soon goes on paternity leave as her wife is having a baby. Our Temple Meadow team and community wish them both all our love and fingers crossed for a safe delivery.

It was lovely to close the last half-term with our Carnival. Please see below for a comprehensive gallery of images of the day.

Some of our MPs participated in a Pupil Voice conference at West Bromwich Albion Football Club. The focus was on well-being and pupil voice. Our pupils had an opportunity to bid for £2000, and they delivered a really engaging presentation linked to mental health and well-being with a focus on developing our 'takeaway home art packs'. Again, please see our news article below for further information.

We are ever mindful of landmark world events that are in the media and our History lead, Miss Jones, has ensured that we had an in-class resource available to support an understanding of the D-Day Landings commemoration events. In particular, Year 6 have been exploring the history of the event, alongside real life stories linked to families of serving soldiers.

Community Hub

Thank you to those Parents/Carers that are engaging with our new Community Hub, located at the bottom of our KS1 playground, near our Clifton Street entrance.

We continue to operate our uniform swap shop and our grown-up book swapping scheme so please do pop along to see if we have anything for you.

In addition, each Friday at 3:20pm, adults are able to visit the Community Hub to collect left over fruit, vegetables or milk from the school week. We do request that food items go home intact and are not consumed on the school site. Please note only adults can collect an item.

Donations for our Perfect Planet - Memory Garden

Turk's Turban - Heirloom Pumpkin Seed | Johnny's Selected SeedsThank you so much to one of our parents and the local Rowley Regis Horticultural Society for your kind donations of : swede, aubergine, curly kale, pointy cabbage, round cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli along with cosmos seedlings that Year 6 will use in their Perfect Planet – Memory Garden. My favourite within the donation is the Turks Turban Squash that if we can get it to fruit, will look like this (left). We cannot wait to plant them all.

Arts Carnival
It was lovely to close the last half-term with our Carnival, which proved a great success, and we were so fortunate that it remained dry. I'm sure you'll agree, the sculptures created by each year group, linked to World Earth Day, were phenomenal. They were so imaginative in terms of their u...

Celebrating the 80th anniversary of D-Day

This week, pupils in Year 6 had the opportunity to learn all about D-Day - marking the 80th anniversary of this event. Over the week, pupils had some very mature discussions about how this moment helped to shape modern Britain and Europe.

Take a look at some of the fantastic writing that was produced by Chloe linked to this momentous anniversary.
