Dear Parents/Carers

Finally, at last, we have some warm and sunny weather; it makes such a difference.

As ever, we have been so busy. I have just delivered a lovely STAR assembly; there were so many things to celebrate. It really is a highlight of my week seeing those broad smiles as children we have celebrated, walk down our ‘runway’ to music while the whole school claps; they couldn’t be more proud of themselves. Today, alongside the STARs and Kindness Leaves nominees, we had a group of Year 3 children achieving their pen licences and one pupil in Year 1 proudly sharing his football achievement in an out-of-school club; as well as the Science Fayre winners presented by Miss Skelding.

Yesterday's Science Fayre was so impressive; the quality of the exhibits and children's ability to talk through the science involved was a credit to them.

Carnival display – the fabulous outcomes from our Carnival are now all on display in our Dining Room – they look amazing and the plastic recycling element is so clever. Only the narwhale is now left to mount.

Year 6 Perfect Planet

Year 6 have been busy on their Perfect Planet project and enjoying the June sunshine. They started by emptying our compost bins and moving all of our lovely composted leaf mould into the new planters and planting a wide range of plants. Thank you to Mrs Whyle and Mr Smith who both got hugely involved with supporting this.

Politeness Campaign

Just to bring to your attention, on Monday 24th June, our MPs roll out their Politeness Campaign; encouraging everyone to display good manners throughout the day. They will be awarding stickers in each year group. Stickers that they themselves designed. It is so nice to see pupils so actively engaged in our Positive Interactions Policy (Behaviour Policy).

Year 5 Matilda

This week, Year 5 visited Halesowen Town Hall Matilda to watch a Matilda performance delivered by students at Ormiston Forge Academy. Following the performance, the following letter was sent to Forge:

Dear Matilda Theatre Cast,

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible performance of "Matilda the Musical." Your talent and dedication brought the story to life in a way that truly captivated us all.

Each of you played your roles so wonderfully, making us feel as if we were right there in Matilda's world. The way you portrayed the characters, from Matilda's bravery to Miss Trunchbull's hilariously scary demeanour, was absolutely amazing. We laughed, we gasped, and we even got a little teary-eyed – it was a rollercoaster of emotions that we will never forget.

Your singing was spectacular! The songs were so catchy and full of energy that we found ourselves humming them long after the show had ended. The choreography was equally impressive; we were in awe of the way you all moved so seamlessly across the stage, making every dance number a highlight of the performance.

We also want to thank the behind-the-scenes crew who made the magic happen. The set design, costumes, lighting, and special effects were outstanding and truly enhanced the storytelling. It was clear that a lot of hard work and passion went into every aspect of the production.

Seeing your version of "Matilda the Musical" has inspired us in so many ways. Matilda's story of courage, intelligence, and kindness taught us that we all have the power to change our lives and stand up for what's right. It's a lesson that we will carry with us always.

Thank you once again for such a memorable and inspiring experience. Keep shining on stage and sharing your incredible talents with the world. We hope to see you perform again someday!

With deepest appreciation,

Mr Malcolm and the Year 5 children.

Celebrating the 76th anniversary of the Empire Windrush

This week, pupils had the opportunity to learn all about the arrival of the Empire Windrush to Britain- marking the 76th anniversary of this event. Over the week, Year 6 pupils were very enthusiastic, and had some incredibly mature discussions, when learning about this important historical event.

Take a look at some of the fantastic writing that was produced linked to this anniversary:
