The long goodbye!
I have had the most fabulous week with so many beautiful celebrations that have all been part of my leaver events.
It has been an absolute privilege being Headteacher at Temple Meadow for the last 15 years. As I leave, I feel truly cherished by all the love and good wishes across our whole school community.
The Fun Day was simply so much fun. The weather couldn't have been kinder and children just loved the inflatable obstacle course, which I managed to complete with Reception children. Children loved the ice cream van and I found the singing and the presentation of a card, for every year of my Headship overall, a 'spine-tingling' moment.
Then today, my final assembly was just magnificent. I loved all the usual bits where we reveal the Headboys and Headgirls, present flowers to Miss Jones who leaves on maternity and conduct all the pupil prize draws (details below).
Very many of our Governors joined us and I was presented with a beautiful picture representing the cherry tree containing all the children's thumbprints across the school. I will cherish that forever.
I then had the most amazing poem with contributions across the staff team which was carefully crafted by Miss Hodgetts (see below).
We had beautiful singing of some of the Year 6 leaver songs and I'm delighted to hear our Fun Day resulted in three twinned toilets for me, which I thought was a brilliant idea; I just love initiatives like this.
Temple Meadow is an incredibly special place; it has the most incredible pupils; the most incredible staff team and a hard-working Governing Board.
As the lyrics say in one of the songs sung yesterday, 'we change the world together, one child at a time'; and at Temple Meadow, we really do.
My final words go to Mrs Van Straaten, our next Headteacher. She is going to be simply amazing and will take the school from strength to strength with love, care and dedication.
I sign off by sending every single one of you all my love and best wishes.
Ms Walsh
Headteacher (very soon actively retired!)
